More than 200 contestants from all over the country are set to participate in the competition. Additionally, there will be a number of foreign contestants from Thailand, Australia, the United States, Singapore, Canada, France, China, and Indonesia.
The judging panel for the contests includes pianist Dao Trong Tuyen, head of the piano faculty at Vietnam National Academy of Music, guitarist Nguyen Van Phuc, cellist Bui Ha Mien, and vocal artist Ho Thi Hoang Ha.
The winners of the first, second, and third prizes will receive scholarships worth VND5 million, VND2 million, and VND1 million, respectively.
The organizers will also present other awards during the event, such as best contestant for each musical instrument – piano, guitar, flute, and zither; best online contestant; best ethnic contestant; youngest contestant; and most impressive performance costume.
The first Zhongsin International Music Competition took place in Singapore in 2007. It aims to be one of the most professional and comprehensive international music competitions of its kind. The competition received significant support from the National Arts Council of Singapore and the Singapore Chinese Music Association.
The contest consists of preliminary and final rounds. The preliminary rounds have over 50,000 entrants, and each year, 1,000 finalists participate in the competition. Competitors from around the world compete in categories such as piano, voice, strings, guitar, winds, electronic organ, accordion, percussion, and folk instruments.
This year marks the inaugural launch of the competition in Vietnam.
