The festival had previously been scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from March 5 to March 17.

However, the nature of developments relating to the COVID-19 epidemic has forced organisers to change the pageant’s dates, with the schedule now pushed back to sometime after March.

Thuy Nga, a representative of the pageant’s organising board, said that with all preparations for the event already being made, the health of contestants and audiences must be prioritised as a means of protecting the well-being of the community.

Orginisers will be keeping a close eye on the future developments of the disease before they decide on a new date.

The Miss Charm International 2020 pageant was set to see the participation of 40 contestants from across the world with Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, editor of Vietnam Television, being chosen to represent Vietnam at the pageant.

The competition’s ultimate winner will receive a crown that costs US$150,000, in addition to a cash prize of US$50,000.

The organisers will also present prizes to the two runners-up and winners of some of the pageant’s sub-titles, such as best evening gown, best swimsuit, and best national costume.

The competition’s judges will be Natalie Glebova, Miss Universe 2005, Mireila Lagaguna, Miss World 2015, and Osmel Sousa, former president of the Miss Venezuela Organization.
