Conductor Olivier Ochanine leads the Sun Symphony Orchestra in a challenging and captivating program, exploring the neoclassical masterpieces of Igor Stravinsky. The concert highlights the composer’s unique blend of classical and modern influences, showcasing his constant pursuit of new musical languages. |
Igor Stravinsky, the Russian musical genius, left an indelible mark on the world of music. His relentless pursuit of innovation and new musical languages earned him a reputation as one of the most influential composers of his time. Stravinsky’s creative period between the World Wars is particularly notable for its unique synthesis of artistic elements. He seamlessly blended Baroque and Classical influences with modern compositional methods and harmonic language, creating a style that would become known as neoclassical.
This concert aims to showcase the neoclassical music of Stravinsky’s middle period, a time when he created smaller orchestral compositions with clear and coherent structures and melodies. The program includes three contrasting works: Octet, a celebration of wind instruments; Apollon Musagète, a ballet piece for strings; and Pulcinella Suite, an orchestral suite based on the works of 18th-century Italian musician Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
Of these, Octet and Apollon Musagète will be introduced to Vietnamese audiences for the first time, offering a rare treat for chamber music enthusiasts. The concert also features the beloved Pulcinella Suite, performed once again in the sublime setting of the Ho Guom Opera.
Join the Sun Symphony Orchestra on this musical journey and discover the timeless appeal of Igor Stravinsky’s neoclassical masterpieces.
