Vietnam Weather Update (December 20): Northern Region Hit by Intensifying Cold Wave

Vietnam is expected to experience cold and rainy weather with remarkably low temperatures in the Northern and other areas on December 20th.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has reported that a stronger cold wave is set to affect the North and North Central regions, as well as some areas in the South Central region.

In the North, particularly Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, the weather will remain cold, especially in the mountainous areas. During this cold air wave, the nighttime and early morning temperatures in the North, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An are expected to range from 9-12 degrees Celsius.

Weather Forecast for Different Regions

Northwest region: The weather forecast predicts cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rain, and extremely low temperatures. The lowest temperature will be around 12 – 15 degrees Celsius, and in some places it may drop below 10 degrees. The highest temperature will be around 23 – 26 degrees Celsius.

Northeast region: The weather will be cloudy and rainy, with cold temperatures in the evening and at night. The lowest temperature will be around 11 – 14 degrees Celsius, and in some places it may go below 9 degrees. The highest temperature will be around 14 – 17 degrees Celsius.

Thanh Hoa – Thua Thien Hue: The weather is expected to be cloudy and rainy in the early morning, with temperatures dropping in the evening and at night. The lowest temperature will be around 14 – 17 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be around 18 – 21 degrees Celsius, and in some places it may exceed 21 degrees.

Da Nang – Binh Thuan: The weather will be cloudy and rainy, with scattered thunderstorms in the region. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong winds. The lowest temperature will be around 23 – 26 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be around 28 – 31 degrees Celsius.

The Central Highlands: The weather forecast predicts a mix of clouds and sunshine during the day, with scattered rain in the region. The lowest temperature will be around 18 – 21 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be around 26 – 29 degrees Celsius, and in some places it may exceed 29 degrees.

The Southern region: The weather is expected to be partly sunny and cloudy in the early morning, with moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be around 23 – 26 degrees Celsius, and the highest will be around 31 – 34 degrees Celsius.

Weather Forecast in Major Cities

Hanoi: The weather forecast calls for cloudy skies with scattered rain in some areas. The temperatures are freezing and pose a health risk. The lowest temperature will be around 12 – 14 degrees Celsius, and the highest will be around 15 – 17 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City: According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City area will be partly sunny during the day and rainy in the evening and at night. The temperatures will remain relatively stable, ranging from 33 – 34 degrees Celsius.
