Accordingly, tourism recovery programmes are combined with the promotion of communication, advertising and tourism campaigns, at home and abroad. At the same time, it is required that destinations, localities, service and tourism businesses must diversify, develop new and attractive tourism products, or upgrade and renew old tourism products, to attract more tourists.

Thanks to high numbers and early coverage of the second and third vaccine doses throughout the country, and more than 650 establishments in the tourism business with safe green labels, including measures for safe and flexible adaptation, as well as effectively controlling COVID-19, Quang Ninh province is ready to reopen tourism activities, under the new normal state.

From the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh province has worked with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, localities and businesses, to develop a programme aiming to restore the tourism industry, and all tourism activities, products, and projects. From now until the end of 2022, 240 events to stimulate tourism will be organised, including big events, such as the Ha Long Summer Carnival, Ha Long Winter Carnival, Ao Dai Festival, Food festivals, and night markets on the water.

For the domestic market, Quang Ninh province’s tourism industry will organise roadshow programmes, promoting and introducing Quang Ninh to southern provinces and cities, with later expansion to industrial parks and zones, including the export processing industry, which has a large number of workers.

Regarding the international visitor market, during the Ha Long Bay Week at EXPO 2020 Dubai in February, there were many special activities to promote and honour the world heritage site, which was recognised twice by UNESCO, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and people, in the Middle Eastern region.

Along with that, Quang Ninh province continues to coordinate with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, international organisations in Vietnam and Vietnam’s diplomatic organisations abroad, to organise promotional activities on Quang Ninh with new and attractive tourism products; at the same time coordinate with international forums and organisations, of which Quang Ninh tourism is a member, to expand and develop the international tourist market.

Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism Pham Ngoc Thuy said that the industry has researched and formed tourism programmes and safe tourism products; encouraging tour operators and tourists to follow a safe tourism program; and deploying the exploitation, management and exchange of tourists between localities, in the situation of epidemic control. The exchange of guests is carried out on the principle of both anti-epidemic and economic development.

Quang Ninh tourism industry is focusing on controlling the implementation for temporary guidance on safety assessment of epidemic prevention and control regarding tourism business establishments; maintaining the registered criteria for assessing the level of safety for epidemic prevention and control; supervising and urging the observance of the 5K principles of the Ministry of Health; registering and self-assessing COVID-19 safety on; setting up and using QR codes to manage and control tourist information and organize SARS-CoV-2 testing for employees, according to regulations.

Quang Ninh province’s goal in 2022 will be to welcome ten million visitors, of which international visitors will reach 1.5 million, with a total tourism revenue of more than 19 trillion VND. With the initiative in developing programmes, scenarios and routes to welcome guests, Quang Ninh tourism industry is ready to reopen tourist activities, in safe conditions and adapt to the new situation.
