Ahead of Newborns Vietnam’s launch of the Hanoi Neonatal Network, the charity, in cooperation with PurpleAsia, led an initiative to organize a logo competition among young creatives across Vietnam.
With a bolstered communication campaign lasting for four weeks, the competition attracted 150 entries from all over Vietnam.
In the end, three winners were selected by an expert committee, including key members from PurpleAsia, Newborns Vietnam, the British Embassy in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital, and Saint Paul Hospital.
The winning logos were judged based on the presence of the hospital collaboration, partnership, mothers and babies, optimism/joy, and professionalism.
The final winners were Tran Van Chau (first place), Nguyen Anh Minh (second place), and Duong Thanh Huy (third place).
The final acknowledgement and a certificate of commendation went to Le Quang Cuong, a student at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Cuong is one of 14 students from nine schools and universities who participated in the competition.
“Congratulations to the winners of the logo competition supporting the great organization of Newborns Vietnam!” said Gareth Ward, British Ambassador to Vietnam.
“We are proud of Newborns’ work, helping children across Vietnam to survive despite a difficult start to life.
“These children will grow up to be happy and healthy in the future.”
First-place winner Tran Van Chau, a Da Nang-based graphic designer, proudly shared, “There are many competitions out there, but only a few are meaningful to me.
“I recently became a father, the joys of which are as exciting and thrilling as the day my child was born.
“My wife also contributed to the winning logo design; it was an inspiring and collaborative process.
“We are honored to see our work chosen for a project that will do so much good for the community.
“I look forward to supporting Newborns Vietnam in any way I can in the future.”
Branding experts at PurpleAsia will help develop the specifics to be ready for implementation following the launch of the Hanoi Neonatal Network on October 15.
The logo competition successfully inspired the local design community to support newborn babies in Vietnam. |
In the meantime, Chau’s and the other top eight logo designs were displayed in the Phu San Hanoi reception hall from October 5 to 9 and again at the official launch of the network.
“We are excited to drive this initiative with Newborns Vietnam and their partners,” said Matt Millard, managing director of PurpleAsia.
“Our purpose is to inspire the young community to use their skills to do meaningful things for their neighbors.
“It’s great to see the excitement, energy, and commitment to design and charity in so many young people.”
Each year, PurpleAsia donates at least the equivalent of US$10,000 of working hours to a charity cause.
This is the second year the company has supported Newborns Vietnam to improve their branding and communications in an effort to enhance overall awareness about the brand.
The development of the piloted Hanoi Neonatal Network is under the guidance of the Hanoi Department of Health and supported by a team of neonatal and network experts from Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
The network system is a model for change to transform maternal and newborn services, putting families, mothers, and babies at the heart of everything.
Mothers and babies will be treated in the right hospital at the right time by staff with the appropriate skills and access to higher-level care if needed, with safe specialist transport.
The nine hospitals in the network area provide different levels of care, but each is committed to the same standard of basic care.
The hospitals are Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, Phu San (Hanoi Obstetrics & Gynaecology Hospital), St. Paul Hospital, Duc Giang General Hospital, Dong Anh General Hospital, Soc Son General Hospital, Bac Thang Long Hospital, Gia Lam District General Hospital, and Hoai Duc District General Hospital.
“The logo is a very special symbol, it is an outward sign of the vision of the network, together we can do more to give our babies and mothers the best possible care at every level of hospital,” said Suzanna Lubran, executive director at Newborns Vietnam.
“We are immensely grateful to PurpleAsia, the judges, and all the aspiring designers.”
Newborns Vietnam, a UK-registered charity, supports the Vietnamese government’s healthcare agencies to make fundamental improvements to the country’s neonatal care systems.
It works in partnership with the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, Hanoi, the Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital, and other hospitals under the management of the municipal Department of Health to improve the survival and long-term health outcomes of newborn infants by addressing the deficit in specialist neonatal training for junior doctors and nurses, providing training for provincial hospitals in the northern Vietnamese provinces, and developing a safe transport system.
Newborns Vietnam’s vision is underpinned by a reorganization of newborn care services, with the establishment of a managed neonatal network approved by the Ministry of Health for a defined area of Hanoi.
The network and the hospitals will work together to provide different levels of safe consistent care, with training appropriate to that level of care, and a dedicated transport system to move sick babies safely to the infirmaries in the network that provide the more specialized care.
