THE HANOI TIMES — In an exciting cultural exchange initiative, Mexico is bringing a captivating exhibition, “Journey to Ancient Mexico,” to Hanoi this May. The exhibition will showcase 17 invaluable artifacts, offering a glimpse into Mexico’s rich historical and ancient civilizations.
Mexican Ambassador Alejandro Negrin Munoz shared this news during a meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, Tran Sy Thanh, on [April 8]. The ambassador expressed his hopes for strong support from Hanoi’s authorities for the upcoming exhibition, which aims to introduce the city’s residents to Mexico’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Chairman Thanh assured that Hanoi is committed to creating favorable conditions for this exhibition and other commemorative events. He emphasized that these celebrations not only honor the traditional friendship between the two nations but also open up new avenues for cooperation in culture, arts, and tourism.

Past cultural exchanges, such as “Vietnam Week” and “Vietnam Day” in Mexico, along with the Olmec cultural exhibition, have played a significant role in fostering a deeper understanding and stronger ties between the people of Vietnam and Mexico, noted Chairman Thanh. He expressed his confidence that “Journey to Ancient Mexico” will serve as a unique cultural bridge, further solidifying the friendship between the two countries.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to reflect on the significant milestones in Vietnam-Mexico cooperation. Ambassador Munoz highlighted Mexico’s perspective on Vietnam as an important partner, recalling that Mexico was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam after the war.
Chairman Thanh acknowledged Mexico’s contributions to enhancing economic and cultural cooperation between the two nations. He mentioned the increasing presence of companies from both countries in each other’s markets, including notable examples such as Mexico’s Kidzania entertainment center in Hanoi and FPT Group’s office in Guadalajara.
Currently, Mexico is Vietnam’s second-largest trading partner in Latin America, while Vietnam holds the same position for Mexico within ASEAN, underscoring the growing economic ties between the two countries.
