From November 25-27, the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center in Qatar played host to the third Qatar International Tourism Fair, an event that attracted over 300 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. With the theme “Discovering Places, People, and Culture,” the fair showcased travel, tourism, and hospitality companies, as well as embassy booths, drawing around 12,000 visitors.
Among the participants was the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar, which seized the opportunity to exhibit Vietnam’s diverse tourism offerings. Tailoring their presentation to the interests of Qatari and Gulf tourists, they promoted everything from cultural and resort tourism to nature escapes and culinary delights. Various travel packages were on offer, ensuring there was something for every type of traveler.
A particular highlight of the event was the Vietnamese booth, organized by the Embassy in collaboration with Vietravel Company. This booth showcased the country’s most prominent tourist attractions through captivating images and informative displays. It became a magnet for guests, companies, and travel agencies, both local and international. The fair also provided a platform for the Vietnamese Embassy to engage in discussions with key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Qatar Tourism Authority and representatives of Qatar Airways. Visa issues for Vietnamese citizens and the potential resumption of direct flights between Doha and Da Nang were high on the agenda.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, emphasized their strategy to attract tourists from the Gulf region by showcasing Vietnam’s cultural diversity, natural wonders, and personalized travel experiences. He also underscored their commitment to continuously improving the quality and diversity of tourism services to cater to the preferences of international tourists, particularly those from the Gulf.
By leveraging trade fairs in Gulf countries, Vietnam is taking a proactive approach to promoting its tourism offerings on a global scale. This initiative is expected to result in an increase in tourist arrivals, especially those who seek immersive, extended stays.
