The We Love Lego community’s annual event, Brickfest 4, took place on February 16 at Le Quy Don Primary School in Hanoi and attracted a passionate crowd.

An eye-catching feature of the event was a 4-meter-wide Vietnamese flag, crafted entirely from Legos. This unique display served as a symbol of national pride and creativity.

Brickfest 4 showcased the community’s incredible Lego creations and fostered intergenerational connections. Long-time enthusiasts and young explorers gathered to celebrate their shared love for Lego. The structured play area, equipped with over 100 kg of Lego bricks, encouraged hands-on creativity and skill development, sparking imagination and fun.

The event also offered a rare opportunity to meet Dang Huy Hoang, a senior designer at LEGO globally and an early member of We Love Lego. Hoang, the creator of the Retro Radio Lego set, shared insights into his creative process and inspired this year’s theme, “Vietnam Reaching Out to the World.”

Community members had the chance to engage in insightful conversations with Hoang, delving into the intricacies of his profession and the creative journey behind Lego designs. His presence added a special touch to the event, bridging the community with a global perspective.

The play area at Brickfest 4 was a hub of excitement, with participants of all ages engaging in creative play and collaboration.

A major highlight of Brickfest 4 was the My Own Creation (MOC) exhibition, showcasing intricate models that celebrated Vietnamese culture. From the national flag to iconic landmarks like Khue Van Pavilion and Long Bien Bridge, the exhibition also featured characters inspired by folklore. One of the most outstanding creations was “Nguoi Chien Si” (The Soldier) by Hung Nguyen, which captured the essence of patriotism and resilience, earning admiration from the audience.

Vietnam’s traditional water puppetry, brought to life in Lego form, showcased the community’s talent for capturing cultural essence.

Brickfest 4 offered a range of engaging activities beyond the exhibits. Creative games with prizes, raffles, and the MOC competition awards ceremony kept attendees entertained. A new addition, the Kahoot quiz session, tested participants’ knowledge of Lego’s history and evolution, adding an interactive and educational element to the event.

Young Lego enthusiasts were immersed in the world of creativity, exploring the endless possibilities that Legos offer.

“Our community has been organizing events since 2012, and Brickfest 4 is our biggest annual gathering,” said Chu Hong Duc, founder of We Love Lego. “We aim to share our passion and connect generations who grew up with Lego. Each creation on display tells a story and evokes memories, reminding us of the power of creativity.”

Duc Nguyen, a parent who attended the event, expressed his emotions: “Brickfest 4 transported me back to my childhood. I felt a sense of wonder and nostalgia seeing these Lego sets, and I’m grateful to share this experience with my son. It was truly meaningful.”

The organizers emphasized that Brickfest 4 was not just about community connection but also a strategic step towards engaging with the global Lego brand. They hope that events like this will encourage the Lego company to recognize the potential of the Vietnamese market and create innovations tailored to local players.

While the event was held in Hanoi, the community’s reach extends beyond. As the We Love Lego community continues to grow, they aim to bring Brickfest and the joy of Lego to even more fans across Vietnam, uniting people through creativity and a shared passion for these beloved building blocks.
