The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the United States for providing Vietnam with vaccines and medical equipment through the COVAX Facility initiative and bilateral channels.
The Vietnamese leader proposed strengthening cooperation between the two countries in addressing the consequences of war.
Austin confirmed that the United States will continue to support Vietnam in addressing the aftermath of the war, including the search for the remains of Vietnamese soldiers, dioxin detoxification, and mine clearance. Additionally, the United States will assist in enhancing Vietnam’s maritime security capabilities and participation in UN peacekeeping activities.
He also pledged to continue assisting Vietnam and other countries in gaining early access to COVID-19 vaccines to combat the pandemic as quickly as possible.
