Increased Cooperation between Vietnam and Bangladesh for Long-Term Sustainable Development

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga acknowledges the strong engagement and support received from the Bangladesh Embassy during Ambassador Samina Naz’s tenure. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, both sides collaborated on various activities.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga highlights Bangladesh as an exemplary nation in poverty reduction and development. Many Vietnamese businesses and NGOs are keen on learning from Bangladesh’s experiences in microcredit, rural housing, and education programs.

Given the similarities between the two countries, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga believes that Vietnam-Bangladesh and ASEAN-Bangladesh will continue to closely cooperate towards sustainable development.

In her remarks, Ambassador Samina Naz discusses the activities carried out by the Bangladesh Embassy in recent years. The Embassy not only focuses on political and diplomatic affairs but also strives to integrate and engage with the local community.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Embassy participated in humanitarian programs such as voluntary blood donation and providing food support to disadvantaged individuals in Vietnam. In 2021, officials and employees of the Bangladesh Embassy took part in three blood donation drives to save lives. These events helped foster a closer connection between the Ambassador and the people of Vietnam.

Expressing admiration for Vietnam’s achievements in various domains, Ambassador Samina Naz emphasizes that Bangladesh values Vietnam’s development experience and aims to enhance cooperation, bringing the people of both nations closer together. This cooperation includes a better understanding of each other’s culture, history, and religion, as well as contributing to economic, trade, and tourism development.

Bangladesh is actively working towards becoming a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN and participating in Mekong cooperation mechanisms. These platforms will further strengthen Vietnam-Bangladesh relations.
