China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mao Ning congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on their electoral victory in the Lok Sabha elections, expressing hopes for a “healthy and stable” China-India relationship moving forward.

In a post on social media platform X, Mao Ning offered her congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and the NDA for their success in the recent elections. She emphasized the desire for a positive and stable relationship between China and India, which she believes is in the best interest of both nations and contributes to regional and global peace and development.

Addressing a regular press conference, Mao Ning highlighted the significance of a harmonious China-India relationship. She stated that China is prepared to collaborate with India, keeping in mind the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples.

In the press briefing, she acknowledged the election results, congratulating the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and their National Democratic Alliance on their victory. She reiterated the importance of a healthy bilateral relationship and expressed China’s willingness to work together with India for the benefit of both nations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term in office, although the BJP will require the support of other parties in the coalition, including the JD (U) and TDP. The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place on Tuesday, with the BJP winning 240 seats, a decrease from their previous tally, and the Congress making significant gains with 99 seats. The INDIA bloc also emerged as a strong contender, crossing the 230-mark and defying pre-election predictions.

Global leaders, including those from neighboring countries such as the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, as well as Israel, Ukraine, Italy, and Jamaica, have extended their congratulations to PM Modi and the BJP-led NDA government on their consecutive third victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
