According to a quick survey conducted by a Nhan Dan Newspaper reporter one month after the Lunar New Year, all manufacturing companies are starting to “accelerate”. The rate of workers returning to factories reached a high level. According to the leader of the Trade Union of Hanoi Industrial Parks, to date, the number of workers returning to Hanoi industrial zones has reached a very high level at 96-98%.

In fact, the COVID-19 pandemic also poses many difficult problems for direct production enterprises, especially in terms of human resources. However, businesses all identify efforts to “overcome difficulties” to accomplish the goal.

At Hoang Son Garment Company (Ngoc Hoi Industrial Park, Thanh Tri, Hanoi), more than 100 garment workers are working to “pay” large orders for Korean partners. Le Van Son, the head of this company, said: “At present, garment enterprises in industrial zones such as Khanh Vinh Phong Phu, Thanh Tri Garment and Van Laccck Asia have no shortage of orders.”

Bach Thang Long, Deputy General Director of Garment 10 Corporation – Joint Stock Company (Garco10) said: Most of the large orders of the garment industry have been signed and planned in advance from the end of 2021. Entering 2022, despite facing many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, all units are trying to “accelerate” the deployment.

According to the Vietnam World Bank, the growth rate of the apparel manufacturing sector in March 2022 remained good with a growth rate 24.7% over that of the same period last year. With favourable output, the textile and garment industry will have a great opportunity to boost production if it can overcome the local crisis of personnel due to the impact of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, according to the World Bank, the manufacturing and processing industry PMI increased from 53.7 in January (before Tet) to 54.3 in February – the highest level in 10 months. Generally, in the first two months of 2022, the index of industrial production (IIP) is estimated to have increased by 5.4% over the same period last year. In which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 6.1%, contributing 5.2 percentage points to the overall increase.

Explaining this index, a representative of An Thinh Steel Company Limited (Ngoc Hoi Industrial Park, Hanoi) said: The processing and manufacturing sector “has stable output”, so it is less affected and affected by the pandemic.

Since the Lunar New Year, workers of An Thinh Steel Co., Ltd. have continued to maintain production and carry out processing at the workshop. An Thinh’s products are then distributed throughout the country, mainly serving the construction of large traffic works.

Industrial production is forecasted to continue to have many advantages from the Government’s policy of “living together” safely with COVID-19 and the response and agility of businesses when gradually figuring out how to maintain a safe environment. Maintaining production and supply chain smoothly in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic tends to be complicated. Along with that, export orders of many fields were relatively abundant.
