    Vietnam Seeks UNESCO Recognition for Binh Dinh Martial Arts

    Hanoi – In a recent development, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh has given his approval to submit a proposal to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for recognizing “Binh Dinh Traditional Martial Arts” as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

    As per document No. 2589/VPCP-KGVX, issued on March 28, 2025, the Deputy Prime Minister has authorized the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to sign the dossier on the government’s behalf, following the necessary regulations.

    Taking the lead, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO will coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with other relevant agencies, to ensure the completion of all required procedures and the submission of the nomination dossier.

    This initiative aligns with the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Vietnam’s cultural heritage laws.
