Lam Dong Province and the Republic of Korea Strengthen Cultural Ties

The Korean Digital Platforms Industry Association (KODPIA) is set to take a leading role in fostering cultural exchange between Lam Dong province and the Republic of Korea (RoK). This development arises from a proposal by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, which aims to harness KODPIA’s expertise in funding and organizing cultural events.

This initiative builds upon a strong foundation of cultural and artistic collaboration between the two regions. A notable example was the cultural exchange between Da Lat and Chuncheon, a city in RoK’s Gangwon province, which took place in December 2023. The event, celebrating the 130th anniversary of Da Lat as a city and its recognition as a UNESCO Creative City of Music, attracted thousands of domestic and international visitors.

The impact of these cultural exchanges is evident in the growing tourism numbers for Lam Dong province. In the first quarter of this year, the province welcomed 2.38 million tourists, an 11% increase year-on-year. Notably, the number of foreign visitors, particularly from the RoK, surged by 34%.

This latest development underscores the potential for digital platforms to play a pivotal role in facilitating cultural diplomacy and promoting tourism. By leveraging KODPIA’s resources and organizational capabilities, Lam Dong province and the RoK can further strengthen their cultural ties, creating mutually beneficial opportunities for both regions.
