The preliminary rounds of the pageant had been scheduled to take place throughout May with the final round being held in August. Indeed, a press conference to launch the contest was earlier set to take place at the end of March.
However, the recent nature of developments relating to the global COVID-19 pandemic has forced organisers into changing the competition’s dates, with notice about the updated schedule set to be released at a later date.
According to the pageant’s organising board, despite all preparations for the event having already been made, the health of contestants, judges, and members of the audiences is a priority, therefore the overall well-being of the local community must be put first.
All women between the ages of 18 to 27 who have had no cosmetic surgery are eligible to participate in the 16th version of the national pageant.
Aside from winning the ultimate prize of being crowned Miss Vietnam, some of the sub-titles on offer include Miss Sea, Miss Fashion, Miss Sports, and Miss Talent.
Quang Nam native Tran Tieu Vy, Miss Vietnam 2018, went on to represent the country during Miss World which took place in China later that same year, with the 18-year-old ultimately finding herself among the Top 30 of the global pageant.
