Canada to bring disaster relief to Ha Tinh, Quang Tri

HCMC – Through the Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund, the Canadian Government will donate 555,300 Canadian dollars or US$426,000 to CARE Canada and Oxfam-Québec to offer humanitarian aid to some 32,000 flood-hit residents in Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces.

The aid package, which is set to be valid within six months, will focus on improving the capacity of food security and water resources and environmental hygiene, VietnamPlus news site reported.

CARE Canada and Oxfam-Québec, which are members of the Humanitarian Coalition, are present in over 154 countries worldwide to promptly adopt urgent measures in response to natural disasters.

Over the past 25 years, Canada has been one of Vietnam’s strategic partners, donating over 1.5 billion Canadian dollars to support the latter with poverty reduction and development.
