Tom Cross, a Vietnamese-American film editor, has been selected as a juror for the First or Second feature film category at the inaugural Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival (HIFF) in April 2024. Cross is widely recognized for his work on the Oscar-winning film Whiplash in 2015 and has edited several other blockbuster Hollywood movies, including La La Land (2017) and No Time to Die (2023).
The HIFF 2024 will be a global gathering of approximately 200 filmmakers, actors, and actresses. The festival will showcase nominated films, host exhibitions, workshops, and refresher courses, and present a unique cine show featuring music and fashion shows. This event aims to celebrate outstanding achievements in Vietnamese and international cinema, as well as the fashion industry in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.

| Tom Cross, also known as Minh Tâm, grew up in Long Island and graduated from Purchase College with a Visual Arts degree in 1993. He started his career in the film industry as an assistant editor for independent films and later joined Corman Studios in Los Angeles to gain more experience. Cross has since made significant contributions to notable films such as Ang Lee’s Ride with the Devil (1999) and the TV series Deadwood (HBO, 2004-2006). He has received multiple nominations and awards, including a BAFTA and Critics’ Choice Award for his work on films like First Man (2018) and No Time to Die (2022). |
