Novak Djokovic secured his fourth victory at Flushing Meadows, further showcasing his remarkable season with previous wins at the Australian Open and Roland Garros. As a result of this achievement, he will rise to the top of the world rankings when they are updated on Monday.

It has been 54 years since a man has achieved a calendar Grand Slam, with Djokovic coming close once again. Unfortunately, he lost in a thrilling five-set Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz.

Currently, he is relishing his 24th Grand Slam victory.

“It clearly holds immense significance for me,” he expressed. “I am genuinely realizing my cherished childhood aspiration.

Making history in this sport is an extraordinary achievement that is difficult to put into words.

“As a child, at the tender age of seven or eight, I nurtured an aspiring dream of becoming the preeminent player in the world.”

Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis sensation, is not only living out his dreams but also solidifying his position as the greatest player in the history of tennis.

Novak Djokovic has made history at the age of 36, becoming the oldest men’s winner of the U.S. Open in the Open Era. Despite his age, Djokovic’s determination to succeed in Grand Slam tournaments remains strong, and he delivered a message to his younger competitors that they should not underestimate him.

“Eventually, one day, I will retire from professional tennis, which would be in around 23 or 24 years,” he humorously remarked. “Until that time comes, I imagine you will continue to see me on the court.”

Currently, I do not have a specific number in mind regarding the number of Grand Slam tournaments I aspire to win.

“I will continue to prioritize these tournaments as my most important ones, where I strive to showcase my highest level of tennis playing.”

Kobe Bryant Tribute

After securing his historic title on Sunday, Djokovic jubilantly threw his racquet into the air and dropped to his knees amidst the thunderous applause of the crowd.

After regaining his composure, he approached the bench to embrace his young daughter who was seated courtside, sharing a profoundly heartfelt moment. He then retrieved a T-shirt from his belongings, featuring the words ‘Mamba Forever’ printed on the front along with the iconic number 24 displayed on the back.

The shirt is a symbol of tribute, honoring the accomplishments of the individual and commemorating the memory of the late Los Angeles Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant. Bryant, who tragically passed away in a helicopter accident, prominently donned the number that is featured on the shirt during his illustrious career as an all-star player.

“If I get the chance to win the tournament,” Djokovic stated, “I have thought about creating a T-shirt to honor Kobe, who was a dear friend. We often discussed the mentality of a winner.”

“During a difficult period of injury, he proved to be one of the individuals whom I heavily leaned on for support and assistance.”

Both Djokovic and Medvedev have not received full support from the New York crowds, and the atmosphere at Arthur Ashe was lacking the same level of excitement experienced during the women’s final on Saturday.

As the match commenced, Novak Djokovic confidently stepped onto the court and directed his gaze towards his opponent, Daniil Medvedev. It was a familiar sight, as Medvedev had previously thwarted Djokovic’s historic pursuits two years prior.

In their most recent encounter at the U.S. Open, the Russian player emerged victorious, clinching his first major title and preventing the Serb from achieving the coveted calendar Grand Slam.

Djokovic did not mention seeking revenge on his journey to the final and instead referred to that defeat as a valuable learning opportunity.

“I have not participated in any tournaments on American soil for the past two years,” stated Djokovic, who was unable to compete in last year’s Slam due to COVID-19 restrictions.

I made a conscious effort to remain focused and composed, understanding the significance of the current situation and the stakes involved.

Two years ago, I experienced a situation where I was unable to perform at my optimal level and ended up being outperformed.

“I have learned my lesson.”

Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct

The highly anticipated competition between these two leading hardcourt players showcased their exceptional skills on the court, with each point fiercely contested through extensive and exhilarating rallies. Their relentless strikes from the baseline added an electrifying dimension to the match.

Novak Djokovic started the match with great determination, immediately putting pressure on his opponent and successfully breaking the third seed. This gave him an early lead of 3-0.

Djokovic secured the pivotal break as Medvedev failed to reach his previously outstanding performance. Despite Medvedev’s claim of reaching a “12 out of 10” level in his victory over the defending champion Alcaraz in the semi-finals, he showed unexpected lackluster play against Djokovic.

During an intense marathon lasting one hour and 44 minutes, Medvedev emerged with renewed energy in the second set, pushing Djokovic to endure a relentless barrage of extended and grueling points.

Despite his tireless efforts, the Russian player’s hard work did not yield the desired results. He was unfortunately unable to capitalize on a break opportunity at a crucial moment, specifically at a score of 6-5, which would have allowed him to win the set.

Medvedev took a commanding 3-1 lead in the tie-break, however, he was unable to secure victory as Djokovic rallied back to win it 7-5, resulting in a 2-0 lead for Djokovic.

Djokovic demonstrates a remarkable killer instinct and swiftly capitalizes on his advantage, breaking Medvedev to establish a 3-1 lead in the third set.

Russian tennis player Medvedev put up a strong fight by earning his first and only break of the match. However, it ultimately was not enough as Djokovic quickly responded with another break and maintained his serve throughout the remainder of the match to secure the championship title.
