Rocking New Year’s Eve in Hanoi with 2,024 Drone Symphony

Hanoi is expected to set a Southeast Asian record with a spectacular light and sound performance supported by 2,024 unmanned aerial vehicles in the sky on Lunar New Year’s Eve, as reported by VOV.

The performance of 2,204 drones is scheduled to take place between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on February 9th, right before a breathtaking fireworks display that will be held in 32 different locations throughout Hanoi. The event will be live broadcasted on various media platforms.

The venue for the drone performance, either West Lake or My Dinh National Stadium, will be selected by Truong Viet Dung, an official of the Hanoi administration, as announced during a press conference on January 19th.

The spokesperson of the Hanoi People’s Committee emphasized that this captivating performance will be a new highlight in the festive atmosphere, celebrating the accomplishments of 2023 and welcoming the new year of 2024 with renewed enthusiasm and a focus on the development of the city’s cultural industry.

On Lunar New Year’s Eve, thousands of enthusiastic revelers, especially young people, gather at entertainment centers in Hanoi to witness the mesmerizing fireworks display and ring in the New Year. This year, February 9th marks the last day of the 12th lunar month.

Previously, the Hanoi People’s Committee released a plan to organize a fireworks display on Lunar New Year’s Eve. According to the plan, Hanoi will have a total of 32 fireworks displays across 30 districts, including nine high-altitude fireworks displays combined with low-level fireworks and 23 low-altitude fireworks displays.

The fireworks display will last for 15 minutes, from 00:00 a.m. to 00:15 a.m. on February 10th, 2024. The funding for organizing the fireworks displays is obtained through socialization. Here is a list of the fireworks display locations:

1. Hoan Kiem: In front of the new Hanoi Newspaper Headquarters

2. Hoan Kiem: In front of Hanoi Post Office

3. Tay Ho: Lac Long Quan flower garden, in front of the district People’s Committee gate

4. Nam Tu Liem: F1 racetrack, Phu Do ward

5. Hai Ba Trung: Coconut Island, Thong Nhat Park

6. Ha Dong: Van Quan lake

7. Son Tay: Son Tay ancient citadel

8. Thanh Tri: Land for the regulating lake project, Tam Hiep commune

9. Dong Anh: District Sports Center
