Lee Hsien Loong Experiences the Charm of Hanoi on a Leisurely Sightseeing Trip

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong took a tour of the legendary Hoan Kiem Lake walking street in Vietnam following a delicious traditional Vietnamese dinner. During his stroll, he engaged with locals in conversation and stopped to admire various monuments scattered throughout the area.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong explored Hanoi’s cuisine and took a leisurely stroll along the pedestrian streets near Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of the city on the evening of August 27, according to VNA.

Lee is currently on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Accompanied by a high-ranking delegation from Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong enjoyed leisurely walking along Hoan Kiem Lake street.

Dressed casually, the Prime Minister of Singapore delighted in observing the outdoor activities on Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street.

While walking, the Singaporean leader visited and paid respects at Ngoc Son Temple, a national relic site and one of Hanoi’s renowned attractions. He and the Singaporean officials received an introduction to the legend of Sword Lake, explored the temple’s shrines, and viewed the specimen of the Ho Guom Turtle.

Prior to that, the Prime Minister of Singapore dined at a Hanoi restaurant specializing in Vietnamese cuisine on Yen The Street (Ba Dinh). This restaurant recently received a Michelin star in June.

The leader of the Lion Island nation has a penchant for authentic dishes and often dines at local restaurants in a humble manner. During his previous visit to Vietnam, he also experienced a restaurant specializing in traditional cuisine.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong posted an update on his personal social media page.

Upon his arrival, PM Lee posted an update on his personal Facebook page saying, “Xin chao from Hanoi! I am in Vietnam for an official visit at the invitation of PM Pham Minh Chinh.”

He shared, “This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries, and the 10th anniversary of the Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Partnership. Beyond diplomatic relations, Singaporeans and Vietnamese also share many common interests, such as a love for good food.”

Meanwhile, PM Pham Minh Chinh’s spouse Le Thi Bich Tran and Singapore PM’s spouse Ha Tinh visited the Vun Art Cooperative in Van Phuc Silk Village in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District on August 28.

The two spouses had the opportunity to create mosaics of the iconic lion of Singapore and Ha Long Bay of Vietnam.

This is the fifth visit to Vietnam by the Singaporean leader, showcasing the close and cohesive relationship between the two countries.

Joining the Singaporean PM are his wife Ho Ching, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng.

This visit is part of the extensive activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership. During his visit, Lee will participate in numerous important events and activities.
