The movie has provoked anger among local viewers as it twists Vietnamese history, denies Vietnamese revolutionary achievements, and insults national heroes. It also violates restrictions in cinematographic activities in accordance with Vietnamese law.

The alleged violations took place in episode three at between 58:01 and 58:22 and in episode eight between 5:41 and 7:01 when actors spoke about the Vietnam War.

The Korean drama directed by Kim Hee-won is loosely based on a novel of the same name written by Louisa May Alcott which tells stories of three sisters starring Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, and Park Ji Hoo.

The drama which is also available to view on Netflix mentions the war and distorts Vietnamese history in some episodes.

This has led to calls for a boycott of the Korean drama on social networks after many Vietnamese viewers criticised the show due to stating inaccurate information about national history.
