The programme marks the debut of eight new tours to Can Gio and Cu Chi districts, and several other tourist places in the downtown area, including the Central Post Office, the city museum, Binh Tay market, and Ba Thien Hau pagoda.

The city centre tours also provide visitors a chance to explore the arts of Vietnamese water puppetry, go shopping at a popular trade centre, and learn more about the city’s culture.

Meanwhile, trips to Can Gio district will stun visitors with the primeval forests and abundant floral cover at the UNESCO-recognised Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve, which was also the sight of a number of glorious battles in the past.

Visiting Cu Chi district, tourists will be welcomed to one of the world’s top underground destination inside Cu Chi tunnels, which are an enduring symbol of Vietnamese resistance and bravery during the Vietnam War.

Nguyen Van Tran, General Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, said that, in addition to the programme, the city’s tourism department will also coordinate with airlines and railway sectors to boost domestic travel demand in 2019.

The department also plans to launch a promotional campaign in low season to lure more holiday-makers to the city next year.
