Dinh Xuan Dat’s debut music video, “Hoan Kiem,” composed by musician Giang Son and written by poet Nguyen Vinh Tien, is out now. This powerful song helped him secure second place in The Voice of Hanoi 2024, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey.

With this release, Dat expresses his deepest gratitude to the city of Hanoi, which played a pivotal role in his personal and professional growth, offering him his first taste of success.

“The Voice of Hanoi 2024 was my platform to seek career success, and I am thrilled to have achieved the second position. This opportunity will propel me further in my artistic journey, and I am grateful to the contest organizers for their recognition of my talent,” Dat shared.

The young artist demonstrated his courage by entering the competition with “Hoan Kiem,” a challenging yet captivating song. Each line of the melody and lyrics beautifully captures the essence of the capital, and Dat’s unique interpretation adds a fresh and modern twist. Following in the footsteps of Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi, he successfully navigated the pressure of delivering something distinct and memorable.

Dat’s music video showcases his pride in Hoan Kiem District, the heart and soul of Hanoi. Through his lens, we see the district’s gentle, simple, yet passionate spirit, reflecting the youth of the city.

Directed by the talented Hung Nguyen, the video presents a youthful, intimate, and dreamy portrayal of Hanoi, capturing the city’s vibrant energy.

In the visual narrative, Dinh Xuan Dat portrays a young man from afar, wandering the streets of Hanoi and discovering its scenic beauty. Through his eyes and camera lens, he explores iconic locations, including the peaceful and poetic Hoan Kiem Lake, the serene old streets, the intriguing Train Street cafe, and the timeless O Quan Chuong gate.

Dat, deeply immersed in the bustling and peaceful life of Hanoi’s locals, showcases the city’s beauty from diverse angles. These images, familiar and beloved, reflect his connection to the city.

Born in the northern province of Bac Ninh, known for its rich cultural heritage of quan ho love duets, Dat carries a musical lineage. His grandfather was a martyr, and his grandmother was a Heroic Mother of Vietnam. While no one in his immediate family pursued a singing career, he grew up in an environment that celebrated music. It was only natural for him to develop a deep love for singing, particularly excelling in performing traditional quan ho folk songs.

As a child, Dinh Xuan Dat often performed at school and provincial events, captivating audiences with his vocal talent. Recognizing his potential, an event organizer encouraged him to pursue professional vocal studies, and Dat’s parents offered their full support.

After graduating from high school, Dat moved to Hanoi and successfully passed the Intermediate Vocal Music exam at the Military University of Culture and Arts, marking the beginning of his artistic journey.

Reflecting on his path, Dinh Xuan Dat considers himself fortunate to have been mentored by renowned artists, especially People’s Artist Quang Tho, a legend in Vietnam’s revolutionary music genre.

“People’s Artist Quang Tho, at 76, remains passionate and dedicated to his craft. His love for music inspires me and my peers to strive for excellence in our studies and contribute meaningfully to the art world,” Dat shared.
