Hanoi’s tourism sector is thriving, with an estimated 23.11 million visitors in the first ten months of 2024, marking an impressive 11.2% increase from the previous year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism’s latest report.

October witnessed a surge in tourism, with 2.05 million visitors, a 9.1% rise year-on-year. International tourist arrivals exceeded 553,000, increasing by 14.6%, while domestic travelers reached 1.5 million, up by 7.1%. The city’s tourism revenue for the January-October period is estimated at VND90.065 billion (over $3.5 million), reflecting a notable 17.2% year-on-year growth.

To enhance its appeal, Hanoi’s tourism industry introduced a range of innovative initiatives in October. Among these was the “Cultural Festival for Peace,” commemorating the 70th anniversary of the city’s liberation and its 25th anniversary as a City of Peace. Another highlight was the elegant and captivating Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024, which celebrated the beauty and culture of Vietnam.

Additionally, night tours have become a popular attraction, with recent launches including the “Sacred Night Tour” at the Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site and the intriguing “Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel” Night Tour. Visitors also immersed themselves in educational experiences with “The Quintessence of Education” and the “Literature Night Tour” at the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam Relic. The Son Tay Ancient Citadel Walking Street and the Creative Cultural Space at Trinh Cong Son Pedestrian Zone further enriched Hanoi’s nightlife offerings.

These night tours and walking streets have quickly become a favorite among locals and tourists, especially during festive seasons and special occasions, contributing to the city’s vibrant atmosphere.

Looking ahead, Hanoi aims to welcome approximately 27 million visitors in 2024, representing a 9.2% increase from 2023. This includes an expected 5.5 million international visits with 3.8 million stays, a significant 16.4% jump from 2023, and 21.5 million domestic visits, a 7.5% increase. Tourist revenue is projected to reach roughly VND103.74 trillion ($4.2 million+), an 11.1% increase from 2023, with the average room occupancy rate for accommodation establishments climbing to 62%.
