During the National Day holiday, many people in the capital city view it as an opportunity to spend quality time with their families and engage in leisure activities before the start of the new school year on September 5th. With the arrival of crisp fall weather, the four-day holiday (September 1-4) presents an ideal window for short trips to mountainous areas or beaches located approximately 100km from Hanoi.

For those unable to travel far, there are numerous options within the capital city. In addition to well-known attractions such as the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, One Pillar Pagoda, and Thu Le Zoo, new amusement venues have emerged, including the Lotte Mall Tay Ho complex and Vinhomes Ocean Park.
During this holiday period, Bao Son Paradise Theme Park, situated approximately 15km from downtown Hanoi, is hosting the Colorful Island Festival. The festival entails a street carnival, various activities in the amusement complex, as well as a water park and other services.

The newly opened Castaway Lagoon Water Park within the complex offers a modern underwater gaming system not found elsewhere in Hanoi. Happy Farm, Indoor Aquarium, and Safari are also alluring options for families during the four-day weekend.
The extended holiday duration allows families to explore destinations within 100km of downtown Hanoi, such as Mai Chau, Moc Chau, Sa Pa, Mu Cang Chai, Haiphong, Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh. These locations offer breathtaking scenery and convenient transportation. Visitors can opt for package tours through travel agencies or organize their own itineraries to have more flexibility and cost-saving advantages.
Visitors can easily reach the Pearl Island of Cat Ba in Haiphong on their own or combine it with a visit to Ha Long Bay for a complete vacation experience. Cat Ba Island is easily accessible by ferry or boat and has become a popular tourist destination.
Cai Chien Island in Quang Ninh Province is relatively undiscovered compared to Cat Ba Island, offering untouched natural landscapes and a sense of wilderness.
Ha Long Bay is a highly sought-after destination for international travelers. To enhance their experience, tourists can now embark on a luxurious cruise such as the Ambassador Signature Cruise.

The cruise offers high-class services, premium Asian-European cuisine, visits to famous landmarks in the bay, and on-cruise recreational activities such as cooking lessons and live music shows.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Huong from Ba Dinh District in Hanoi remarked that instead of traveling to far-flung and renowned tourist destinations like Da Lat, Danang, Phu Quoc, or Nha Trang, her family opted for Thanh Thuy Hot Mineral Spring Resort in Phu Tho Province.
“This year, the National Day holiday is extended to four days, which means many people will flock to famous tourist destinations. I believe these locations will be highly crowded, making the journey costly,” shared Huong.
Not to mention, her children are starting a new school year, and choosing nearby tourist spots would save travel time and ensure the children’s well-being upon returning to school after the holidays.
