The 6th Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) serves as both a cultural event and a valuable platform for showcasing the rich heritage of Hanoi. As a proud member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and a city with a storied past, Hanoi stands as a vibrant hub where national cultural values converge, crystallize, and are shared with the world.

According to Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, HANIFF 2022 will also play a significant role in promoting the positive perception of Hanoi as a stunning and welcoming city.

The opening of this year’s International Film Festival will feature “Jasmine,” a film by renowned director Dang Nhat Minh, 84, with a Hanoi-themed storyline.

The film offers a compelling narrative of the daily lives of Hanoi residents during the 2000s. It showcases the stories of ordinary individuals, including a hardworking shoeshine boy, a skillful sidewalk barber, a dedicated old teacher who imparts singing lessons to blind students, and a resilient farmer who is compelled to live far away from her ancestral land and also serves as a non-professional nurse at a hospital.

The compassion and generosity of individuals enable them to conquer life’s challenges and foster stronger bonds with one another.

The organizers have also unveiled a trailer for HANIFF 2022, showcasing the enchanting beauty of Hanoi. The trailer features iconic landmarks like the Long Bien Bridge, Sword Lake, and the Old Quarter area, among others.

HANIFF 2022, in addition to its core events like film screenings, seminars, exhibitions, and opening and closing ceremonies, will offer a range of supplementary activities. These include a film market, outdoor film screenings, interactions with actors and actresses, as well as sightseeing tours to explore the captivating destinations of Hanoi for guests and participants.

The opening ceremony of the event will be held on November 8th at the Palace of Friendship Labor Culture, located at 91 Tran Hung Dao Street, in the Hoan Kiem District of Hanoi.
