A scene from the film Io Capitano (I’m A Captain) by Director Matteo Garrone, 2023.

Io Capitano (I’m A Captain), directed by Matteo Garrone, is one of the highlights of the festival. It tells the story of two Senegalese cousins on their journey to Italy, escaping poverty. The film has received critical acclaim, winning Best Film at the 69th David di Donatello Awards and receiving nominations at the Golden Globe and Academy Awards.

Still from La Chimera (The Impossible Dream), 2023, directed by Alice Rohrwacher.

Another notable film is La Chimera (The Impossible Dream) by Alice Rohrwacher. This period comedy-drama explores the Great Raid of the 1980s, when ancient Etruscan tombs were looted and sold on the black market. According to international critics, the film delves into our relationship with the past and the emptiness of materialism.

Join us for the Italian Film Festival 2024 and explore the best of contemporary Italian cinema. Each screening will be followed by a Q&A session with the artistic director, Antonio Termenini.
