The “Ao Dai: A Cultural Journey Through Hanoi” event was a spectacular cultural program that took place on September 1, 2024, organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Thang Long Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the Vietnamese Village Communal House Club.
This unique event attracted over 100 participants, who proudly donned the traditional Ao Dai and embarked on a 12.5-kilometer bicycle parade through the heart of Hanoi. The route took them past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, to name a few.
The Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Tran Trung Hieu, shared the event’s purpose: to showcase the unique appeal of Hanoi’s tourist destinations and boost local tourism. He emphasized the special significance of exploring Hanoi’s cultural heritage while cycling and wearing the elegant Ao Dai, creating a powerful connection between tourism and heritage.
Stella Ciorra, President of the Friends of Vietnam Heritage, expressed her pride and passion for wearing the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai and exploring the country’s rich heritage. She believed that this journey would offer her a fresh and fascinating perspective.
The event served as a prelude to the much-anticipated “Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024,” scheduled to take place from October 4 to 6. It promised to be a celebration of Hanoi’s culture and traditions, with the elegant Ao Dai taking center stage.
