A total of 63 Vietnamese and international films have been carefully curated for this year’s festival, which will run until July 6. The entries will compete in two categories: Asian Films, judged by a panel of Asian experts, and Vietnamese Films, evaluated by local industry professionals.
In addition to the previously announced world-renowned filmmakers, including Chinese-French author and filmmaker Dai Sijie and Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan, the festival is honored to welcome two distinguished guests from the Busan International Film Festival: former chairman Kim Dong-ho and current chairman Park Kwang-su.
The opening ceremony featured a special moment as the organizers of DANAFF introduced the Film Achievement Award for the first time, recognizing the best filmmaker. Vietnamese director Dang Nhat Minh was the worthy recipient of this award, celebrated for his tireless dedication to Vietnamese cinema.
Film enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the festival offers free screenings at five major theaters and two outdoor locations. What’s more, local audiences will have the unique opportunity to engage in conversations and exchanges with artists and film crews, creating a truly immersive cinematic experience.
The event also includes a series of workshops where participants can share their experiences and discover talented young filmmakers. These aspiring directors will be selected for training under the mentorship of renowned international and Vietnamese film experts.
This annual festival is a celebration of cinematic excellence from Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region. It serves as a platform for domestic and foreign professional cinematographers to connect, exchange ideas, explore collaborative opportunities, and expand their reach in the film industry.
