The French Institute in Hanoi (Institut Français de Hanoï) and Nha Nam Culture and Communication Joint Stock Company are jointly organizing a tour that aims to provide Vietnamese readers with the opportunity to engage in exchanges with a world-renowned writer.
The tour will consist of four exchanges, the first of which will take place on March 16 at the Vietnam National Library, located at 31 Trang Thi street, Hanoi. Following that, the writer will travel to central Thua Thien-Hue province to participate in another exchange with local readers at the French Institute in Hue.
On March 20, the French writer will engage in an exchange with students of the University of Foreign Language Studies in Da Nang. Finally, the tour will conclude in Ho Chi Minh City on March 21, where the writer will participate in an exchange with readers at the Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF).
The writer, Werber, has been a prominent figure in French science fiction writing since the 1990s. He is best known for his trilogy, Les Fourmis, which is the only one of his novels to have been translated into English. This series intertwines philosophy, spirituality, science fiction, thriller, science, mythology, and consciousness.
Having sold a total of 15 million books worldwide, Werber is one of the most celebrated contemporary French writers. His books have captured the hearts of readers around the world, notably in the Republic of Korea, where he is the second most-read author after Japanese writer Haruki Murakami.
