In celebration of the Day for Honoring Vietnamese Language in Vietnamese Communities Abroad (September 8), the Budapest Vietnamese-language center in Hungary organized the Vietnamese Language Day and the opening ceremony for the 2023-2024 school year on September 10.
The event was attended by Chargé d’affaires Le Trong Ha, officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary, teachers, parents, and approximately 60 students and children from the Vietnamese community living and studying in Hungary.

Speaking at the event, Chargé d’affaires Le Trong Ha warmly welcomed the students attending the opening of the new school year. He expressed pride in the Day of Honoring Vietnamese in Vietnamese communities abroad, which has become an important milestone in the lives of community members. This celebration increases love for the Vietnamese language and helps preserve and promote Vietnamese traditions and cultural identity.
Chargé d’affaires Le Trong Ha expressed sincere thanks to the center and acknowledged the dedication and volunteerism of the teachers. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary will continue to support and collaborate with associations and the Vietnamese community to nurture love for the Vietnamese language and contribute to its development.

Teacher Tran Anh Tuan, in charge of the Budapest Vietnamese-language center in Hungary, highlighted the annual Vietnamese Language Day and opening ceremony activities held in Budapest for over a decade. These activities aim to foster a love for the Vietnamese language among children in the Vietnamese community in Budapest.
Through pedagogical training and deep dedication to their students, the teachers at the center have worked tirelessly to promote its growth. The number of students registered this year has increased to over 80, compared to 64 in the previous school year. This number is expected to continue rising with the support of parents and the community.
For the 5.3 million Vietnamese living and working in over 130 countries and territories worldwide, the Vietnamese language is a source of national pride and a unifying element of the community. The Day for Honoring the Vietnamese Language aims to increase awareness of the language’s beauty and value among overseas Vietnamese. This project will be implemented alongside the cultural diplomacy strategy until 2030.
