Vinh Achieves 2024 Olympic Qualification

Nguyen Thi That, a female cyclist, has qualified for the 2023 Asian Road and Para Cycling Championships after winning the gold medal.
The 2023 ISSF World Shooting Championships will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from August 14 to September 1.
The Vietnamese shooting team had a strong presence in the tournament, fielding a talented squad of 10 shooters. This impressive lineup included Ha Minh Thanh, Lai Cong Minh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, Nguyen Thanh Nam, Nguyen Thi Thao, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Pham Quang Huy, Phi Thanh Thao, Trinh Thu Vinh, and Vu Tien Nam.
In the women’s 10m air pistol event, despite facing off against a formidable field of world-class shooters, Vinh demonstrated remarkable mental composure and delivered an exceptional performance.
With an impressive total score of 579, Vinh has successfully advanced through the qualifiers and secured a coveted spot in the final round.
The score was just shy of her personal best record of 580 points by a single point.

Vinh’s outstanding performance in the finals has earned her a place in the prestigious 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, Vinh will compete among the top eight athletes with the highest rankings in the women’s 10m air pistol qualifiers. This achievement solidifies Vinh’s position as an elite competitor in her sport.
In the finals, the Vietnamese athlete once again demonstrated her remarkable performance.
She achieved a remarkable score of 175.6 points, which earned her an impressive fifth-place ranking overall.

Vinh was then recruited into the national team and received training from esteemed South Korean expert, Park Chung Gun.
Since the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, where shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh earned a gold and a silver medal, he remains the sole Vietnamese shooting athlete to successfully qualify and secure a spot in the Olympics.
Xuan Vinh had the privilege of participating in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo by earning an honorable slot offered by the organizers.

On August 7, 2016 Vietnamese sports enthusiasts held their breath while watching Vietnamese marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. “Steel Woman” of Vietnam
“Steel Woman” is the nickname given by her colleagues and students to Nguyen Thi Nhung, head of the shooting department, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and chief coach of Vietnam’s national shooting squads. So far, she has been the only female head of a delegation in Asia who has successfully led Vietnam’s national shooting squads to participate in regional and world’s competitions for 11 consecutive years and had outstanding achievements.
