Iran Launches Vietnam Culture Week Led by National Assembly Chairman

The Vietnam Culture Week in Iran commenced on August 9th, 2023 (local time) with the presence of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, who is on an official visit to the country, as reported by VNA.

The event, jointly organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran, and various Iranian agencies, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023).

Among the Iranian attendees were Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Orientation Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps in Tehran, leaders of ministries and branches, and a significant number of Vietnamese communities and the public in Tehran.

The program includes a photo exhibition and a film week showcasing the land and people of Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong mentioned that the exhibition aims to enhance understanding of Vietnamese culture among Iranian people and find commonalities between the two cultures.

In his speech, Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, highlighted the potential for collaboration in culture, arts, and cinema between the two countries. He emphasized that their advanced regional positions and considerable cooperation opportunities will lead to further developments in the relationship, benefiting their respective populations.

The Iranian Minister expressed the personal desire of the Iranian President and leaders to expand relations and exchanges in the cultural field. The two culture ministries will consider signing a memorandum of understanding on comprehensive cooperation in the near future.

During his official visit to Iran, NA Chairman Hue and Iranian leaders discussed measures to strengthen cooperation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Iran diplomatic ties. The legislative bodies of both countries signed a new cooperation agreement and explored avenues to further enhance their partnership in the future.

During his visit to Iran, NA Chairman Hue also participated in forums aimed at promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Iran.

Furthermore, he met with leaders of localities, ministries, enterprises, and friendship associations in Iran and witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements.

During his meeting with the Iran-Vietnam friendship associations, Chairman Hue emphasized that people-to-people exchanges serve as the foundation for strengthening Vietnam’s comprehensive relations with Iran. He expressed his hope that the associations would continue to bridge the gap between Vietnam and Iran, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

Chairman Hue’s visit coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties, almost 25 years after NA Chairman Nong Duc Manh’s visit to Iran in 1999 and five years after the official visit of Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, to Vietnam in April 2018.
