Hong Le, the gold medalist at the 2021 National Athletics Championship, joined goalkeeper-turned-content creator Nick Q Tran and a host of renowned athletes and runners from the Vietnamese running community as adidas unveiled its latest Adizero lineup, headlined by the Adios Pro 4 and Adizero Evo SL.
Since its debut in 2020, adidas’ Adizero Adios Pro series has been a dominant force on the podium, gracing the feet of more World Marathon Majors winning athletes than any other brand.
Building on this impressive legacy, adidas is now ushering in a new era of speed with the launch of the Adizero Adios Pro 4 and its training counterpart, the Adizero Evo SL.
Designed for optimal performance on race day, the Adios Pro 4 is a pinnacle racing shoe. Meanwhile, the Evo SL, inspired by the record-breaking Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1, is a fast-paced training shoe that offers athletes the perfect blend of support and responsiveness during their race preparation.
These new additions to the Adizero family are crafted to empower athletes to reach their full potential, whether it’s on the starting line or during their grueling training sessions.
Conceived in adidas’ Innovation Lab in Herzogenaurach, Germany, the Adizero Adios Pro 4 is a testament to global collaboration. It has been rigorously tested with consumers and top athletes across multiple countries, including elite runners in Kenya’s Iten, Japan, and the U.S. This shoe seamlessly blends proven race-winning technology with a fresh and dynamic Adizero design aesthetic.
The product teams and engineers meticulously refined and enhanced the racing shoe based on insights from earlier Pro models, ensuring optimal performance and speed for runners.
A key innovation in the Adizero Adios Pro 4 is the forefoot rocker, positioned at 60% of the shoe’s length. This design feature is inspired by the groundbreaking Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 and has been lab-tested to propel runners forward with improved efficiency.
Additionally, the shoe features a full-length Lightstrike Pro midsole, delivering a lighter and softer sensation with each stride. The innovative midsole works in harmony with a one-of-a-kind lightweight, one-way stretch woven mesh upper that adapts to the foot, providing a snug and secure fit, even at high speeds.
The Adizero Adios Pro 4 also introduces a new lacing system that locks down the foot for a secure and confident ride. This system is complemented by a patterned outsole that has been strategically designed based on the strike patterns of adidas’ leading athletes, ensuring optimal grip where it’s needed most.
Weighing in at approximately 200 grams for men and 172 grams for women, the Adizero Adios Pro 4 continues the range’s legacy of excellence, which includes five world records and 73 major road race victories.
With the Adizero Evo SL, adidas’ product and design teams aimed to bring the pinnacle benefits of the Adizero franchise to a wider audience. They created a fast-paced trainer that seamlessly fuses advanced racing technology with the design DNA of the iconic Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1.
The Evo SL pays homage to its predecessor with clean lines and a minimalist white finish, accented by bold black three stripes that appear to blur as the runner gains speed. Beneath this sleek exterior lies a shoe purpose-built for speed, featuring a full-length, high-stack Lightstrike Pro midsole that delivers a smooth and dynamic ride without compromising on comfort.
The Adizero Adios Pro 4 retails at VND6.5 million ($256.2), while the Adizero Evo SL and Adizero Boston 12 are priced at VND4 million ($157.7) each. All three models are available at adidas stores and retailers nationwide.
At the launch event, Tien San shared his positive experiences using Adizero products, particularly during his journey to the Berlin Marathon. “My companion for that challenge was the Adizero Pro Evo 1,” he recalled. “It’s the lightest and most comfortable running shoe I’ve ever worn. The Lightstrike foam and carbon technology provided stability and energy return on my long runs, and the outstanding elasticity allowed me to sprint with ease.”
