Vietnamese Army Engineers Donate Valuable Gifts to Abeyi Regional Hospital

To celebrate Vietnamese Doctor's Day on February 27, the Vietnam Army Corps of Engineers recently visited the Ministry of Health of the Abyei region. During the visit, they generously donated several medicines to Abyei Hospital and Doctors Without Borders. This gesture not only shows their appreciation for the healthcare professionals in Abyei but also demonstrates the kindness and support of the Vietnam Army Corps of Engineers towards the global medical community.

During the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung, who is the Commander of the Vietnamese forces participating in the United Nations peacekeeping operations at the UNISFA Mission, explained the significance of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day and extended best wishes to the Minister of Health and the medical system in Abyei for their continuous development in order to meet the healthcare needs of the local population.

Deng Arop De. Mading, the Minister of Health of the Abyei region, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the Vietnamese blue beret soldiers’ dedication to local medical activities in recent times.

In recent developments, the Vietnam Corps of Military Engineers has been instrumental in building roads to Abyei Hospital and organizing free medical examinations, as well as distributing medicine to officials, government employees, teachers, and local residents.

The Minister of Health also expressed his hope that the Vietnam Corps of Military Engineers will continue to engage in activities that support the healthcare system and the people of Abyei in general.

Prior to this, the Vietnamese Corps visited and presented gifts to the medical agencies of the UNISFA Mission, including Ghana’s Level 2 Field Hospital and Level 1 Field Hospital. They also held meetings and sent congratulatory messages to the officers and staff of the Level 1 Field Hospital (which is part of the Vietnamese Corps of Military Engineers) on the occasion of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.

Major Nguyen Mau Vu, the Political Commissar of the Vietnamese Corps of Military Engineers, stated: “February 27 is not only an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the doctors and nurses working within our unit, but also a time to show our admiration for the doctors and nurses working in Abyei. These medical professionals from around the world have come together here to support this challenging region and help it become more stable each day.”
