Besides her skills as an actress, Bella Mai wins the audiences’ heart with her positive lifestyle. Though struggling to fight tumor, she is also a professional boxer and spends a lot of time trekking.
Bella has joined many trekking trips in and out of Vietnam to break her boundary and admire the majestic nature. She proudly talked about her trips to Tu Lan in Quang Binh, Ta Giang in Nha Trang, Ninh Thuan, Mera Peak in Nepal, Semera volcano, and Ljen in Indonesia. These trips broaden her mind and give her a redundant source of energy and confidence to face all challenges, Bella said.
“I started trekking in early 2018 and the first trip was to Tu Lan in Quang Binh. I was a newbie, so the trip was harder than normal. I was super tired, but after passing the cold slope and reaching the camping site, I realized my effort was all worth it. The view was grand there.”

“The first trip took me three days and two nights. We stayed in the jungle, close to nature, crossed streams, and walked on the most challenging routes, but we could breathe the fresh air. After the trip, I fell in love with trekking,” said the actress.
One of Bella’s most favorite routes is Semeru and Ljen in Indonesia. “It took me and my companions a lot of time to reach the trekking area and the mountain’s peak. I was so tired and my legs hurt but I did not back down. I kept cheering myself up and could finally reach the peak.”
Bella once starred as a trekking-lover in a movie. “Trekking in real life is ten times more exciting than in a movie,” she said.

Bella’s most recent, also the most time-consuming and expensive trip was conquering Mera Peak in Nepal. The 6474-meter Mera Peak is a big challenge for trekking enthusiasts. The trip took her more than 20 days, including a dozen days walking along the mountain to reach the foothills.
Nepal’s weather was harsh. “It was like four seasons packed in a day,” she said. “When we reached the altitude of 5,800m, we stayed for one night to prepare to reach the top. However, by the following noon, I had a height shock even though I had taken medicine. My head hurt like it wanted to explode, I could not breathe much, my limbs were swollen because of the too cold weather. Everything outside was almost frozen, I tried to rest and planned to continue on the next day, but in the end, I could not make it,” she said.

Bella continued to have a headache and a high fever after the trip, so the travel company was forced to call a helicopter to take her to the hospital. She was regretful not to finish her adventure.
“A few days later, two of my friends had to drop out. They could not reach the peak because of bad weather and melting ice. Everyone is sad, but we all promise to come back to Nepal to conquer this country again”, Bella Mai confided.
Bella Mai said that many of her friends sometimes think that trekking was just climbing to a certain place, then took check-in photos. “But only the real trekker knows how difficult it is, and how happy it is after finishing each trip.”
“On the challenging journey, we have new experiences, we meet new friends, witness the majestic beauty of nature. All the greatest things about the trip are saved in our brand, not photos. Photos are just some kinds of symbols, real memories are the most precious.”
