Vietnam Weather Update (Jan 24): Cold Spell and Rain to Persist in Northern Region

According to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, a wave of enhanced cold air has spread across the North and Central regions and has also affected some places in the South Central region. The Northeast wind is strong at level 3 in the mainland and at levels 4-5 in coastal areas, with gusts at level 6-7.

Due to the influence of the very strong cold air, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An are experiencing extremely cold temperatures. In the area from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh, there are scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 20-30mm, and in some places, over 50mm.

Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and the South are experiencing stable weather with sunny days and scattered thunderstorms at night.

The weather forecast in different regions

Northwest region: The weather will be cloudy and rainy in the early morning. In mountainous areas, there is a possibility of frost. The lowest temperature will range from 9-12 degrees, while the highest temperature will range from 13-16 degrees. Some places in high mountains may experience temperatures below 5 degrees.

Northeast region: The weather will be cloudy with light rain in the morning. In mountainous areas, there is a possibility of frost and snowfall. The lowest temperature will range from 7-10 degrees, and 2-5 degrees in mountainous areas. The highest temperature will range from 10-13 degrees.

Thanh Hoa – Thua Thien Hue: Cloudy with light rain and extremely cold weather. The lowest temperature will be 9-12 degrees in the North and 14-17 degrees in the South. The highest temperature will be 13-16 degrees in the North and 17-20 degrees in the South.

Da Nang – Binh Thuan: Cloudy and rainy in the early morning and at night, with locally heavy rain and thunderstorms. The lowest temperature will be 18-21 degrees in the North and 21-23 degrees in the South. The highest temperature will be 22-25 degrees in the North and 29-32 degrees in the South.

The Central Highlands: Cloudy and sunny during the day, with rain at night. The lowest temperature will be 16-19 degrees, while the highest temperature will be 26-29 degrees.

The Southern region: Cloudy and sunny during the day, with rain at night. Northeast to east wind level 2-3. The lowest temperature will be 23-26 degrees, and the highest temperature will be 30-33 degrees.

The weather forecast in big cities

Hanoi: The weather forecast predicts it to be cloudy, with light rain in the morning and night. Level 3 northeast wind. The lowest temperature will be 8-10 degrees, and the highest temperature will be 10-12 degrees.

Ho Chi Minh City: According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City area will be sunny and cold in the early morning and at night. The temperature will remain stable, fluctuating between 32 – 34 degrees.
