In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Thanh Tung highlighted the importance of the special solidarity between the two countries.

He emphasised that the year 2022 marks an important milestone for both countries, an opportunity for them to review the heroic history of the Vietnam-Laos Combat Alliance, as well as the mutual help and support between the two Parties, States and people in the past struggle for national independence as well as in the present cause of national construction, development and protection.

Lao Ambassador Vantha Sengmeaung affirmed that the bilateral great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation are the valuable heritage of both peoples, as well as a decisive factor to bring the two countries to the revolutionary victories.

He affirmed that the special relationship is vividly expressed in the closeness, solidarity, close cooperation and mutual support between the Lao and Vietnamese representative agencies in Cuba.

Last month, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) held a ceremony to celebrate the 46th founding anniversary of Cuba’s friendship associations with Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The event aims to review the history of the solidarity movements of the Cuban people for the revolutionary causes of the peoples in the three Indochina countries, contributing to educating the future generations of each country about the good traditional relationship and underlining their responsibility in preserving and promoting the solidarity and friendship.

Vietnamese Ambassador Le Thanh Tung affirmed the country always stands with the Cuban people, expressing his belief that the two nations will develop together and write new pages for their solidarity, brotherhood and comprehensive cooperation and absolute trust.

Ambassadors of Laos and Cambodia also highlighted the friendship and bilateral relations in the social, cultural and economic fields between their countries and Cuba.

2022 is an important year for Vietnam and Laos when the two countries are celebrating the 60th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations (1962-2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the bilateral Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (1977-2022). This is a historical event marking a milestone in the ties between the two countries’ Parties, States and people.

Various activities have been implemented throughout the year, aiming to popularise the Vietnam-Laos ties to the world and among people of both sides.

In the US, the Vietnamese Embassy in Washington D.C on August 6 organized a friendship exchange program with the Laotian Embassy.

In the atmosphere of close friendship, the leaders of the embassies, officials and employees of the two countries shared the feelings of solidarity and special support for each other, hosted a cultural program, friendly sports exchanges and enjoyed the two countries’ traditional cuisine.
