With the uplifting theme “Joining Hands to Create a Peaceful World,” the 2024 Festival for Peace commenced on the evening of July 6th, on the southern bank of the Hien Luong-Ben Hai Special National Historical Site, in Quang Tri Province. This festival, a first for Quang Tri, is a celebration of peace and a showcase of Vietnam and its people’s culture and hospitality.
The event holds significant meaning as it marks the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement, which brought an end to the First Indochina War and restored peace to the region. It also serves as a tribute to Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.

The festival also looks ahead to the 50th anniversary of national reunification, serving as a reminder of the importance of unity and peace. It encourages everyone to come together to build a brighter future for Vietnam, one filled with peace, prosperity, and sustainability.

The event was graced by the presence of Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung, and representatives from various central and local departments, ministries, and branches.
The Festival for Peace will also feature a range of other activities, including a Cycling Event for Peace, a cultural-cuisine festival, a music exchange, a Trinh Cong Son music night, and a “Wish for Peace” program with memorial activities and a floating lantern ceremony.
By hosting this festival, Quang Tri Province aims to become a symbol of solidarity and friendship, attracting visitors and boosting the local economy while spreading a message of peace and unity.
