“Vietnam’s charming capital has aged well, preserving the old quarter, monuments, and colonial architecture while making room for modern developments,” it says.

Famous for its street food, Hanoi is also home to three Michelin-starred restaurants, including Gia, Hibana by Koki, and Tam Vi.

The award shows that Vietnamese cuisine is gradually gaining a foothold on the world food map. This would be a great potential to attract visitors to Hanoi, both local and international.

To promote food tourism, Hanoi has opened many special streets for food tours, such as Tong Duy Tan Food Street in Hoan Kiem District or Dao Ngoc – Ngu Xa Night Food and Walking Street in Ba Dinh District.

Speaking on a food map of Hanoi after its restaurants were honored by Michelin, Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, said that Hanoi’s culinary products and services will be diversified according to the city’s tourism development direction until 2030.

“The city’s tourism department will create a food map so that tourists can explore and experience local cuisine,” she said.

Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best 2024 is TripAdvisor’s annual recognition of destinations whose hotels, restaurants and activities have received a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the global community of travelers over a 12-month period.

Less than 1% of TripAdvisor’s eight million listings are awarded Best of the Best, signifying the highest level of excellence in travel.
