Conducting 40,000 Additional Craniofacial Procedures for Vietnamese Patients Worldwide

Katrin Kandel, CEO of Facing the World (FTW), announced a goal to support Vietnam in performing 40,000 maxillofacial deformity surgeries over the next 5 years at a meeting with Phan Anh Son, Vice President – General Secretary of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) in Hanoi on April 25.

According to Kandel, FTW looks to establish appropriate, self-sustaining craniofacial centers and outreach programs in Vietnam, as well as offer international fellowships and sponsor training missions to partner hospitals in the country. This will provide the necessary support and resources to ensure the best possible care for patients in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Phan Anh Son praised FTW’s contributions to Vietnam. He expressed his gratitude for the organization and assured VUFO would support FTW to continue implementing upcoming projects.

Facing the World (FTW) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving and alleviating facial deformities in children through supporting facial orthopedic surgery. Since 2008, FTW has partnered with four hospitals in Vietnam, organizing over 100 visits and exchanges of medical experts. In addition, FTW established the Center for Craniofacial and Plastic Surgery at the 108 Central Military Hospital in Hanoi, and contributed £2 million worth of technological equipment to partner hospitals.
