Phu An Village is a pioneering ecological conservation project, focusing on bamboo genetic resources and vegetation along the Saigon River in Binh Duong province and the Southeastern region. Conceived by Dr. Diep Thi My Hanh, a lecturer at the University of Natural Sciences, the village has flourished for over two decades, educating young people about nature conservation and providing economic benefits to the local community.

The village has positively impacted 3,000 families, reducing out-migration to urban centers. The community members are skilled in crafting artisanal bamboo handicrafts, showcasing their talent and contributing to the local economy.

The village actively supports scientists and student groups in their research endeavors, making it an ideal destination for those seeking an ecological garden model and a deeper understanding of bamboo conservation.

Bamboo is deeply ingrained in Vietnamese daily life and culture. It is used for constructing houses, making furniture, and crafting agricultural tools. Bamboo shoots are also a common ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine.

Symbolically, bamboo represents resilience, solidarity, diligence, and loyalty in Vietnamese culture. The clusters of bamboo trees, with their strong vitality, reflect the unity and strength of the Vietnamese people.

Together with banyan trees, rice paddy fields, and village ponds, bamboo tree clusters embody the essence of Vietnam’s rural areas, evoking a sense of peace and rustic charm.
