Duong Lam Ancient Village is a preserved relic in the heart of Doai land. When entering the village, visitors will be fascinated by the red brick roads and yellow-brown laterite alleys. Unsurprisingly, Duong Lam is a popular spot for both professional and amateur photographers.
The exhibition showcases 25 photographs of Duong Lam ancient village, taken by Nina May since 2019. Themed as “Doai Land’s White Clouds,” they portray 25 stories of life in Duong Lam, brimming with love and emotions. As both an artist and a local resident, Nina May has had ample time to gain insights into the cultural values of this ancient village.
The reason Nina chose to settle down in Son Tay Town is that its people and scenery remind her of her hometown. She decided to live in the village like a local and commenced the preservation of its cultural values and way of life amidst an ever-changing society.
Nina shared that apart from capturing everyday life, she enjoys bringing back forgotten scenes and images. Occasionally, compositional techniques are employed, but she always endeavors to present the life and people of Duong Lam as they are.
