According to Bui Quang Huy, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the largest organization of young people in Vietnam, they will be embarking on a significant initiative this year. The union plans to plant an impressive 20 million trees.
On Saturday, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union partnered with the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Hoa Binh Province in northern Vietnam to inaugurate the Tet tree planting initiative.
During the launching ceremony, Huy announced that young individuals from all over the country would be participating in planting 1.9 million trees on the designated day. In the Hoa Binh region alone, a substantial total of 30,000 trees were planted by the youth.
As part of our efforts to achieve the goal of planting 100 million trees by 2022-27, we are taking the first step towards realizing the prime minister’s vision of cultivating 100 million trees.
Huy also encouraged each individual to cultivate, nurture, and safeguard a minimum of one tree at their respective workspaces, educational institutions, and abodes.
The directive emphasizes the need for the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at all levels to devise strategies for integrating technology and digital transformation into the processes of tracking and overseeing tree populations.
During his speech at the ceremony, Do Van Chien, the chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, emphasized the importance of effectively addressing climate change and mitigating the impact of natural disasters and diseases. He also stressed the need for responsible management and utilization of natural resources, prioritizing the protection of the environment and public health. Chien further emphasized the significance of discontinuing projects that contribute to environmental pollution, preserving biodiversity and ecosystems, and promoting the development of a sustainable green and circular economy.
He emphasized the importance of young people’s contribution in accomplishing these objectives.
“The annual Tet tree planting movement has advanced in both practicality and effectiveness,” noted Chien.
