H.’s exemplary decision demonstrates an unwavering commitment to altruism and compassion, leaving an indelible mark, not just within our institution, but also in the lives of countless individuals awaiting life-saving organ transplants.

Our hospital team would like to extend its deepest appreciation to H.’s family for their invaluable support and for honoring their loved one’s selfless wishes. The impact of this momentous occasion extends far beyond our walls, serving as an inspiration and a beacon of hope for the wider community. We hope that H.’s extraordinary act resonates with individuals and encourages them to consider becoming organ donors themselves, ultimately bolstering the supply of organs and alleviating the suffering of countless patients awaiting lifesaving transplants.

In conclusion, we are profoundly grateful for the altruistic gesture made by H. and his family. Their compassion and selflessness have brought renewed hope and brighter futures to those in need. While returning home from work in Binh Phuoc, he was involved in a traffic accident.

After receiving initial treatment, he was urgently transported to Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Despite the efforts of the medical team, they were unable to save his life.

The family subsequently made a request to Cho Ray Hospital to transfer H. to Nghe An, enabling other relatives to have a final opportunity to see him.

While traveling home, L.T.N., the younger sister of H., reflected on her brother’s selflessness and dedication to serving others. Inspired by his example, she engaged in dialogue with their family members, urging them to honor H.’s wishes and donate his organs in order to help save lives.

This would also enhance the longevity of her brother’s body parts.

With the assistance of her family members, she promptly reached out to the National Coordinating Center for Human Organ Transplantation for guidance and promptly received instructions from the center.

They initially visited Binh Dinh General Hospital in the eponymous south-central province, receiving medical assistance from the doctors there.

The family sought to transfer H. to a hospital in Nghe An while his heart was still beating, enabling his loved ones to have a final opportunity to see him.

During the 1,000 kilometer journey, concerns arose about the condition of H’s organs. As a result, his family and medical personnel made the decision to stop at the Hue Central Hospital in order to ensure proper organ removal.

Medical professionals swiftly assisted the family in carrying out the necessary organ donation procedures.

A team from Viet Duc University Hospital in Hanoi traveled to Thua Thien-Hue Province on the same day to perform compatibility tests between H.’s liver and the recipient.

Prior to an organ surgery, the esteemed board of directors of Hue Central Hospital graciously gathered at the operating room to bid farewell to the patient and express their heartfelt gratitude to him and his family for their compassionate act.

“Many lives will be sustained thanks to your and your family’s noble actions,” stated Professor Dr. Pham Nhu Hiep, the Director of Hue Central Hospital.

After the surgery, medical professionals from Viet Duc University Hospital promptly transported H.’s liver to Phu Bai Airport. They then boarded a flight to Hanoi in order to conduct a liver transplant on a patient who was experiencing liver failure.

Doctors from Hue Central Hospital successfully performed kidney transplants for two patients from Thua Thien-Hue Province who were suffering from severe kidney failure. Additionally, the hospital contributed to the restoration of vision for two individuals in the province through cornea transplants.

According to a representative from the Hue Central Hospital, all four recipients in Thua Thien-Hue have successfully recovered, and the patient in Hanoi is also showing promising improvement.

“Our family firmly believes that the recipients of H.’s organs will always remain in good health. It is our sincere hope that by receiving H.’s organs, these individuals will be able to lead fulfilling lives and allow H. to find eternal peace,” stated N. in a heartfelt statement.

She mentioned that H. is the eldest child in a family of three children from Nghe An.

Their father is a war veteran who suffered a leg amputation during the Vietnam War.

Their mother is elderly and does not receive a pension, so H. consistently sends a portion of his salary to assist in supporting their parents.

H. had previously mentioned his intention to renovate his parents’ house by the conclusion of this year. However, his plan remains unfinished.
