The ‘Vietnam Pho Festival 2023’ represents a momentous occasion as it commemorates the seventh edition of the ‘Day of Pho’ (December 12). This esteemed event, initially established and regularly organized by Tuoi Tre, serves as a tribute to the globally acclaimed dish since its inception in 2017.

The festival additionally serves as a tangible celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

The upcoming ‘Vietnam Pho Festival 2023’ aims to bring the rich flavors and traditions of Vietnamese pho to Japan. This special event will showcase the expertise of Vietnamese pho artisans, as they share the authentic essence of this beloved dish with the Japanese audience. It will be a unique opportunity for Japanese food enthusiasts to experience the true flavors of Vietnam in their own country.

Several stars from Vietnam’s culinary scene, including Cao Van Luan and Pham Quang Duy, winners of the prestigious ‘Hoa Hoi Vang’ (Golden Star Anise) award, are scheduled to attend the event.

The ‘Hoa Hoi Vang’ award is presented annually during the ‘Day of Pho’ event to recognize exceptional pho chefs from all over the country.

The upcoming festival will feature a selection of reputable restaurants, namely Pho Dau, Pho Hai Thien, Pho Sam Ngoc Linh, and Pho Thin Bo Ho.

This year marks the international debut of the event, and Tuoi Tre is thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce Vietnam’s iconic national dish to the Japanese audience.

The festival seeks to provide a new platform for promoting the Vietnamese agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of Vietnamese rice grains, the essential component of pho noodles.

According to agricultural experts, the global popularity of pho is expected to create opportunities for exporting rice-based products. This trend is anticipated to have a positive impact on export values and local incomes.

Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc, the ambassador for the Miss Intercontinental 2022 festival, has expressed her deep honor in participating in this prestigious event in Japan.

“As the current holder of the Miss Intercontinental title, it is my duty to foster connections between continents and countries,” stated Ngoc.

As part of my mission to promote our homeland, I find great significance in showcasing the authentic Vietnamese dish, pho, to audiences around the world. Pho transcends being just a mere dish; it’s a powerful embodiment of our rich art and culinary culture.
