The Hanoi Opera House will host the first performance of the Toyota Concert 2023 on August 5, followed by a show in Ho Chi Minh City. These shows will be conducted by esteemed Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.
Tetsuji has been the music director and principal conductor of the VNSO since 2009. He has also served as the conductor of the Osaka Symphony Orchestra from 1995 to 2001 and a guest conductor of the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra from 1998 to 2001. In addition, he is currently the artistic advisor to the Vietnam Young Music Academy (VYMI) starting from 2021.
Accompanying the concert this year is the talented piano soloist Nguyen Dang Quang. With impressive beginnings in piano studies at the age of nine, Quang has since completed his undergraduate training program in Classical Piano Performance at the University of Montreal in 2020, with a full scholarship from the Vietnamese Government under the guidance of Professor Dang Thai Son. He completed his master’s degree in 2022 and is now pursuing a doctorate degree at the University of Montreal.
During the Toyota Concert 2023, Nguyen Dang Quang and the VNSO will captivate audiences with classic compositions by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Jean Sibelius.
All proceeds from the concert will be dedicated to supporting promising students in pursuing their passion for classical music.
The Toyota Concert, organized annually since 1998, is a collaboration between Toyota Motor Vietnam and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) with the aim of bringing classical music closer to the public.
