A street parade held on July 6 will kick off the week, thereby encouraging local people to join the function.
A variety of events will be held, including exhibitions of Ao Dai and Non La (palm-leaf conical hat), art performances, workshops on Ao Dai and the young generation, a contest about traditional Vietnamese long dresses, and fashion shows.
A photo exhibition of Ao Dai, a traditional Vietnamese outfit, featuring stamps, special corners which highlight local people wearing it in daily life, and flashmob performances are expected to garner the attention of both residents and tourists.
Local officials, staff, businesspeople, and students are encouraged to wear Ao Dai during the week of July 5th to July 12th.
The Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee has organised the Community Ao Dai Week in order to promote the brand and cultural values of the Ao Dai, as well as to bring the culture of the central city closer to both domestic and international friends.
