The latest Michelin Guide has recognized three new restaurants in Vietnam, awarding them their first Michelin star each. These esteemed establishments include Akuna Restaurant of Le Méridien Saigon Hotel, The Royal Pavilion at the Reverie Saigon Hotel, and the illustrious La Maison 1888 within the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Da Nang.
In 2022, four restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also earned this distinguished accolade. Anan Saigon, Gia, Hibana by Koki, and Tam Vi captivated diners and critics alike with their exceptional culinary offerings.
The Michelin star rating system is a revered indicator of culinary excellence. One star signifies a very good restaurant, while two stars denote excellent cooking that is worth going out of your way for. The pinnacle of this recognition is three stars, reserved for establishments with exceptional cuisine that warrants a special journey.
With over 3,000 Michelin-starred restaurants across nearly 40 countries, the guide sets a global standard for gastronomic excellence. In addition to the coveted stars, the Michelin Guide also bestows other notable awards. This year, 99 restaurants in Vietnam received the Michelin Selected honor, and 58 establishments were recognized with the Bib Gourmand award for offering exceptional quality at moderate prices.
The Special Awards further highlighted exceptional talent within the industry. Nhat Duy of Little Bear, a hip new restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City’s Thao Dien Ward, received the Young Chef award. Toan Nguyen of La Maison 1888 was recognized with the Sommelier Award, and Anh Nguyen of Si Dining impressed with their service, earning the Service Award.
